2008 summer fashion makes me smile! It’s all soft, wispy fabric - mile high heels with clear nail polish for the bare look on your feet….. african prints and clutch bags - it’s all spot on this season and inspires me!!
At Trendster, we’re still finding our feet in the big wide fashion world - so I have no problem blogging some other ethical designers who are doing what we’d like to do in the future:
La Lesso - is a true inspiration in design, fabric use, colour and spirit… started by two Cape Town Uni fashion students - the clothing is made on a small scale in Kenya and was started in 2005. It’s now featuring on Stylefinder.com and is being stocked in the UK.
use of images below are courtesy of lalesso website:

These dresses and skirts are affordable fashion - prices range from £30 upwards….
I suggest you take advantage of this season’s key trend - support local Kenyan workers at the same time!

So I’ve recently been dabbing at bidding on Ebay - as an ethical shopper recycling is high on my to do list! After all… if we all recycled, we’d be in a much better place! So try not to be jealous as I showcase some of my faaaab finds! The first is a classic 80’s look which screams summer, fun and beach!

It’s proper vintage!

I’m so impressed with how ethical living has forced it’s way into everyday life and has influenced people beyond expectations. Natalie Portman is apparently designing her own range of vegan shoes for a New York boutique, Sir Steve Redgrave has a fair trade range being launched with Debenhams during Fair Trade Fortnight 25th Feb-9th March. Have a read of the Fair Trade UK website to see how you can get involved.

Well..I’m glad that some celebs realise they can make a difference in the world by promoting and using Organic and Fair trade clothes. News on the grapevine is that Colin Firth(Mr Darcy) and his wife are going to open a Fair Trade and Organic clothing store soon, called Eco Age, in Chiswick west London. Can’t wait to pop my head in just to meet him! www.eco-age.com

As most of you will have noticed, we don’t use Size 0 models on our website. Our photos speak for themselves to show shoppers that clothes still look trendy and cool on curvy women!
So ladies celebrate your curves, learn how to dress to hide any bumps you’re not happy with, and welcome a more confident you!

As we become more ethically minded & environmentally concious - our shopping decisions change, and we do stop to think where a product has originated from, the carbon miles involved in getting them to their desitination, and the lives of the people making the clothing….. as a society - we’re starting to make the right choices - and when fair trade meets organic - it almost results in the perfect product:)
Winter hasn’t hit the UK yet - and I’m far from wishing it was here - but the winter fashion is on the high streets - and we thought we’d let you in on our fab wear for those cold days….
Our Anthology Cardigan is trendy and affordable - and can be worn in different to show off your individuality!

I’ve got an hourglass figure & it’s hard finding clothing that suits me all the time - my boobs are big, small waist & then big hips…….it’s a challenge!
For women out there like me - i find breaking up colours and weraing skirts & tops helps. Wearing tops that sit just below your hips - so they’re not accentuated - and I have a bit of a tummy - so a longer top helps hide this!!

Sorry for lack of posts - I’m now officially addicted to Myspace & Facebook!
Search for a dress/ball gown is not going too well…. probably due to the fact that I haven’t been searching!

Cameron Diaz has dyed her hair blonde again, cos apparently it’s more fun, and there’s no shortage of men about when she’s blonde… is this true?
I’m brunette - so thought I’d leave it up to the blonde readers out there to let me know…..

Not exactly a formal cocktail dress, but ooh how nice is this!!!!!!
Would set me £135 at Monsoon and at that price I could approach Ciel and get an Organic dress made! The search is still on…..

On good advice I visited Oasis online - and found these two fab and affordable dresses! I would pimp them up with some blingin’ accesories - but would only really wear Option 1! Option 2 is nice, but a bit too 16th birthday for me….

Option 2 £60 Option 1 £90

I have been invited to a rather posh Summer Ball on the 30th June, and whilst I’m a girly girl - I generally don’t do very posh….. so to get it right I’m on the hunt for a rather nice cocktail dress, knee-length and summery.
The mission is going to be a tough one - striking the right match between being tasteful and yet unique. I don’t wanna touch Debenhams or the like for fear of wearing the same dress as someone else!
Net-a-porter was an option but every dress I liked was $5000! Way out of my price range…… and so the challenge begins! Will post my find on this page and then the final choice before the 30th June - wish me luck!

What I love about London is that with so many people about - even if you dress up like you’re in a fashion magazine - it all fits in!
This morning there was a rather pretty, Twiggy look-a-like on Central Line - skinny fit black trousers, cork, closed toe high heels, an A-Line beltless beige trench coat and matching hat….. I admit to checking her out twice (as girls do) and was almost tempted to ask her for permission to take a pic for the Style page.
But I chickened out at the end and then told my husband off for looking at her too…
